Mary Ruth Hesketh (nee Andrews)

Our beautiful mother passed away at Idlewyld Manor on November 11, 2021 in her 92nd year. Predeceased by her beloved husband James - united in marriage September 5, 1953 and reunited in Heaven November 11, 2021. Survived by daughters Patricia, Pamela (Curt) and Paula (Joe). Mary was born in Hanover, ON - the youngest of eight children (all of whom have predeceased her). After graduation from Hanover High School she started working in the office at Knechtel. After marrying Jim she moved to Hamilton and worked for companies such as CUNA and Westinghouse. With the birth of her first child she retired. She was active in Linden Park United Church and with volunteer work in the community. For a time she was the neighbourhood Avon lady. Mary’s battle with dementia lead us to the wonderful day care program run by the Salvation Army in Meadowlands. In 2017 she moved to Idelwyld Manor. We cannot say enough about the loving care she received while at Idlewyld. A big thank you to everyone at Idlewyld and, in particular, the staff working in Orchardview – you filled the last years of Mom’s life with joy, caring and loving understanding. A private family funeral will be held. Donations in Mary’s memory can go to Animal Adoptions of Flamborough through the Canada Helps website.
