I. was so saddened to hear of Mary Bissell‘s passing… I first met Mary back in the 1970s and worked with her up until 1990 at Sears ...we worked in the same department and shared many lunches and breaks together over the years.... We had Christmas parties and retirement parties…laughter filled our days.  Mary was one of a kind  and I say that in a very caring way .  One of our favourite movies was “Yanks” starring Richard Gere about World War II set in England ; the stories of this war bride as she referred to herself began...Mary would share so many memories...so many laughs…I feel so fortunate to have met Mary and worked with her all of those years… She was sweet and she was cheeky and I know she had the best life and enjoyed all of her family and friends… Rest In Peace Mary 💕

Scott, I was so shocked to get your phone call and to learn of your moms passing. Your mom and I shared 74 wonderful years of friendship.

We had so many good times with your parents at Woodland Beach, dances and parties. Whenever we went to a pot lock your mom always brought her favourite dessert which was "sex in a pan."

There were many Christmas Eve's spent together on Balmoral where my mom would play "There'll always be an England", on the piano and Mary would cry. 

In recent years our visits have mostly been by phone given both of our limitations, but we always had a lot to catch up on.

I will miss Mary dearly and am truly sorry for your loss. I can still hear her saying," Eeee Norma" or "bloody hell."


Hello Scott I am so sorry for your loss your mother and father were always kind to me I remember going with you to Eatons cosmetics area to visit your mother. Selling donuts door to door I could always count on your family to buy a dozen Your mom would say look Lloyd it’s Jimmy Yates. A kind and lovely English lady. My home was quite unstable I always enjoyed my time in your home playing board games.  A very loving home. I thank you for your friendship and I hope that you are well. All the best!     Jim.   

My mom, Norma was one of the first people Mary met when she came to Canada. Lloyd and my dad were friends and Mary and mom became fast friends and have remained great friends for 74 years. 
Mom was expecting me at the time(1945) and I have always called your mom, Auntie Mary as a result. 
I was so saddened by your mom's passing as mom and I were planning  a visit soon. 
As a teenager I'd visit Mary at Sears and she always found a few makeup samples to share with me. 
I was Scott's first babysitter and remember those days well. 
My condolences to you Scott and your family. Mary was a truly wonderful lady.

So very sorry to hear of the passing of Mary.  
She meant a lot to my Dad Roy and we got to know her and to spend many good times together! She was a very kind, funny lady and all of our family will miss her.

 I am so blessed to have known your Mom! Mary was truly a wonderful, amazing shining lite in our lives. We enjoyed many fun times together sharing Love, Laughter and of course a glass of wine. It has been an honor to know your Mom and call her our friend.
