Mary "Maisie" Ayre passed away peacefully in the early hours of August 27th in Hamilton's General Hospital.
Maisie had several health challenges recently that became more severe following the passing of her husband, Robert, on May 7th. She was born in Larne, County Antrim, Northern Ireland on July 16, 1933. For most of her working life, Maisie was a health care aide (Nurse's Aide in Ireland), dealing mainly with the elderly, particularly those with Alzheimer's. Maisie emigrated to Canada in 1974, living mainly in Cambridge, Ontario. Maisie was pre-deceased by her mother, Mary, father Matt, brothers Jim, Matt, and Billy, and sisters Margaret and Joan. She is survived by her sister Annie, son Trevor, daughter-in-law Tamera, and granddaughter Quinn. Cremation has occurred. At the request of the deceased, no service was held. In lieu of flowers, people should feel free to make a donation to the charity of their choice.
