Maria Leshchuk

Born in Chernilyava, Ukraine.

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by love on Valentine’s Day just 5 days before her 91st birthday at the Trillium Hospital. Beloved wife of Nicholas Leshchuk for 67 years. Loving mother of George (Nanaimo, BC) and Iris. Dear mother–in-law of Marvie Leshchuk and John Krawchenko. Cherished grandmother of Gregory Leshchuk, (Geneva, Switzerland) Stirling Scory ( Nanaimo, BC) and Augustine, Dominique and Sebastian Krawchenko. She will be sadly missed by her sister Pazia in Ukraine. Maria was a long time member of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Hamilton and a member of the Ukrainian Women's Association of Canada, Lesia Ukrainka Branch. She devoted her life to her family. Maria had a green thumb and loved to spend time in her garden. She continued to share the fruits of her labour with family and friends up until last year. She also enjoyed to sew and embroider and leaves behind many beautiful treasures. Visitation at Marlatt Funeral Home, 615 Main Street East, Hamilton on Wednesday, February 18th, 2015 from 2-4pm and 7-9 pm. The Funeral Rite (Panachyda) will be at 7:30p.m. Funeral Service will be held at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 855 Barton St. E. on Thursday, February 19th at 10:00 am.
