Thank you, Marg for being a great supervisor.  Your encouragement and pleasant way of dealing with your staff was much appreciated.  May God see the love you had for others and bring you into his Kingdom!  

Both Paul and I want to send our deepest sympathies to all of the McLay family.   We were very lucky to have such a wonderful neighbor.  We enjoyed building our joint garden together.   Margaret certainly lovingly cared for her garden but in speaking with her, we knew her true passion was her family.  Margaret was a thoughtful , caring and intelligent person who will be missed by all who knew her.

I remember meeting Margaret the year I met Allison in 1971.  I was struck by her composed manner, deep listening skills and kind nature.  I spent many occasions visiting the McLay family having tea and toast and slowing life down with stories, laughter and family love.  Margaret's thoughtful and analytical thinking was the zest to many discussions.   
Giacomo, Emma and I are very sad to hear of her passing and pass on our condolences.
 May  stories about Margaret continue to keep the love alive in the tender hearts of all who were touched by her humanity.

Dear McLay family,

I am so very saddened to hear of Margaret’s passing.  Marg and I worked together since 1999 and were cubicle neighbors since moving to the downtown office.  I will always remember her kindness and smile.  How could you forget that smile?  She was such a proud mom and always shared great stories of her children.
Your mother was a very special lady and will be truly missed.  She joins many angels who were also colleagues of ours.  
May the memories you have of her provide you with comfort through the days ahead.

Dear Mclay Family,
                                              So sorry for your loss of a fine Mom, and Gramma.  I first worked with Marg at the Mountain CEC Office in 1980 where she supervised the Employment unit.  Over the years we worked together at Rebecca St., Wellington St. and the Mountain Office at the Zellers plaza.  Her warm personal style; incredible expertise and confidence with her coworkers and Programs; and her unending contribution to the care and service  of her clients are a testament to what a Public Servant can be.  

Marg has left you, her family a fine legacy and example of a mom and professional.  It was my privilege to serve with her as both her mgr.  and counselling support over the 26 years we worked together.  A loss too soon, but i’m sure she’ll watch over you folks and serve the Lord well. Take care and God Bless.

Such a precious soul Margaret was.....gentle but a strong person.            
I never heard an unkind word from her lips.  She expressed herself with dignity always.  Her family meant everything to her.  

 She gardened with great passion  & precision ....when we spoke of new plants or trees, her delight was visible.  You could feel her joy from head to toe!  
Singing, tap dancing,  ukelele, harmony, Bob Dylan,  white flowers, Dogwood trees, beautiful couture sewing techniques, wonderful books are things that come to mind.
She was kind & had a ready radiant smile & social manners I so admired.

Katie and Kyle: Your mother was so very  proud of you both as you know.
 I was deeply saddened to read of her passing in the paper today. I worked with Marg on Upper James. I travelled with her to Cuba a good while back now. Your write up of your mother is touching and such a wonderful & fitting message - identifying her many many fine qualities. Your mom and I shared lots of stories, secrets & adventures together. She had a wicked sense of humour which seemed to appeal to mine. I remember sitting on our balcony in Cuba as the sun began its descent drinking much too much wine and smoking a ridiculous amount of cigarettes all the while laughing and reminiscing of all kinds of things  when we suddenly remembered we hadn't had dinner and it was now dark. We scurried down to the restaurant which was almost  closed and all we could get was pastries; which your mother was delighted with anyway. I will keep you both in my prayers and hope that you will keep each other strong in the coming weeks, months and years as you adjust without her. So very sorry for you all.
