Lillian was in her 98th year of life when she passed away peacefully in her sleep. She was born on May 22, 1920 in Hamilton, Ontario to Stella and John Saweryn. She was the younger sister to Jenny and Helen. For the longest time she thought that she was born on May 24 – Victoria Day – because her mother heard fireworks during her delivery. She married Stephen Piwowar on July 3, 1943 and they had two sons, Stephen Jr. and Joseph. She loved dancing and adventure. She lived in Germany, Kenya, and Abu Dhabi. Lillian is predeceased by Stephen, her loving husband of 66 years, and Stephen Jr. She will be missed by Joseph, her daughter-in-law Gloria DeSantis, and her grandchildren Alixandra, Stefan, and Aidan. She always had a warm spot in her heart for her nieces, Teresa Melcer, Krysia Lauks, Jolanta Piwowar, and Ela Oleszczuk. Lillian will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Family will receive friends at CRESMOUNT FUNERAL HOME, 322 Fennell Ave. E., on Thursday, April 19th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with Rosary at 8:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret Mary Parish, 20 Idlewood Ave., on Friday, April 20th at 10 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Following interment, please join the family for a luncheon at St. Margaret Mary Parish. In lieu of flowers, Lillian requested donations to be made to the Carl Zawadzki Fund at the Ontario Credit Union Foundation (c/o Clayton Shold, 418 Willis Drive, Oakville, ON, L6L 4V4).
