Ivka Jankovic

Cherished mother of Frank (Donna), Walter (Nadia), and Maryanne (Marc Mitchell). Loving Baka of Mark, Daniel and Eva. Predeceased by her siblings. She will be dearly missed by her extended family and many friends. Born on the island of Pasman, Croatia then immigrated to Canada, with stops in Italy and France along the way before settling in Hamilton. She met her husband Vlado and they were married in 1961. A long time parishioner of Holy Cross Croatian Catholic Church and active member of the Croatian community. Along with her zest for life, she had a dry and witty sense of humour that would bring a smile to all of those around her. Always gracious and loving, she put the needs of others before her own. Constantly on the go, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially the many trips to the United States to visit her beautiful grandchildren. Ivka was an excellent cook and instilled many family traditions in her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed meeting friends to socialize over coffee. Special thank you to Appleby Place Retirement Home and Hampton Terrace for their excellent care and support. Visitation at the Markey-Dermody Funeral Home, 1774 King Street East (at Kenilworth) on Thursday, May 2, 2024 from 4-8 p.m. Vigil Prayers at 5 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Cross Croatian Catholic Church, 1883 King Street East on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Our Lady of the Angels Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
