Peacefully, on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at The Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice, Harm (aka Harry) went to his eternal home by the grace of our Lord Jesus. Greeted there by those he loved that have gone on before him, including his loving wife, our beautiful mother Anna (2012) and his son-in-law Gary (2012). Leaving here those he loved, until we meet again; his wife Paulina Weerdenburg-Dykstra, his four loving daughters and their husbands, Jeannette and Brian Bowes, Jane Boesveld and Mark McGray, Jacqueline and Graham Baker, and Audrey and Mike McQuhae. He was also a much loved Opa to 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Also loved and remembered by Pauline’s six boys and their families, and many other family members and friends both here, and in the Netherlands.
Harm emigrated from the Netherlands in 1953, met Anna and built a beautiful life here in Hamilton. He will be remembered as a kind man with a beautiful friendly smile. Harm walked with the Lord and had a strong and active faith. Harm was an accomplished organist and an active member of the Westdale Reformed Church. He loved Classical music and continued playing the organ in church at Saint Elizabeth Village up until just a few months back. Harm loved travelling around the world, this man was born to drive! He enjoyed fishing, dancing, playing cards, and wonderful luncheons at The Mandarin with his fellow Stelco retirees!
Following a private family interment, we welcome everyone who loved him to a Celebration of Life, on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel at St. Elizabeth Village (393 Rymal Rd. W., Hamilton, ON L9B 1V2). A luncheon and visitation will follow in the Community Barn there. Please use the Garth Street entrance and park in the Village Plaza parking lot for the service. We are grateful to Dr. Wasi and team at the Juravinski Cancer Centre, the Hamilton Community Home Care Team, and the team at the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice for the wonderful care my dad has received over the past year. If one desires, in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Juravinski Cancer Centre, Christians for Jews, or the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice. Arrangements entrusted to Cresmount Funeral Home (905-387-2111). Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be left at www.cresmountfennellchapel.com.
