Evelyn Agnes Penny

We rejoice that our Mom has stepped into her Heavenly Home and felt the embrace of her Savior and Lord on Sunday, August 13, 2023, in her 102 year.

Evelyn was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on February 13, 1922. She was the only daughter of Harold and Bertha Laidlaw and sister to two brothers, Elwin and Aubrey.

Wartime brought a young man, Eric Penny, from Toronto, Ontario to serve in the Air Force, stationed in Halifax. They were married in Halifax on October 23, 1943. Following the war they moved to Ontario. Evelyn was predeceased by Eric in 2007. Evelyn was known for her incredible hospitality and her involvement in activities at the churches where they pastored. Along with her role as a pastor's wife, she enjoyed a career in the retail business world. She was an avid knitter and reader. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandma, a cheerleader for her family and loving wife to her husband.

Eric and Evelyn have four children: Paul Penny (Gwen); Carol Cossitt-Wagstaff (Brent); Dodie Trimble and Esther Penny. Loving grandmother of Derek Penny (Christine), Marla Harrison (Grant), Erin Weston (Nathan), Lindsay McFarland (John), Katie Wouters (Richard), Andrew Trimble (Diane), Meghan Welch (Ryan) and 19 great grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. As per her request, there will be no funeral service but the family is planning for a visitation at Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Avenue East on Sunday, August 27th from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.
