Sept. 25, 1926 – Feb. 17, 2012
After a lengthy illness, has joined Marjorie (2003) to be at peace in the arms of the Lord. Dear father of Marilyn Bratkovich (Rick) and Sandra Webb. Loved “Gramps” of Ryan (Tracy), Justin (Melanie), Jesse and Stacey. Cherished “Papa” of Brayden, Kaitlyn, Austen, and Emily. He will be missed by his sister and brother in laws, many close cousins, nieces, and nephews. Dad’s gentle and kind nature touched so many.
Dad enjoyed his role as Chief negotiator of his local U.E.W. Dad worked at Westinghouse for 35 years, retiring as a foreman, was a proud member of the Melrose Lawn Bowling Association and an “Early Riser” golfer for many years at King’s Forest Golf Course. His courageous fight against cancer was displayed in his love of life and his determination to live life to the fullest, continuing to lawn bowl with his beloved friends despite his pain.
The family wishes to express their thanks to Dr. Szilvassy, Dr. Young, The Juravinski Cancer Centre, C.A.P., the wonderful staff at Emmanuel House for taking such good care of Dad, and Cresmount Funeral Home.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Doug’s life at the Meadowlands Retirement Residence, 1248 Mohawk Rd. West, Ancaster on Saturday, February 25th from 3 - 5 pm. Prayers to be recited, at 4:30 pm. If wished, donations in his honour may be made to the Cancer Assistance Program, 569 Concession St., Hamilton, ON, L8V 1B2.
“Doug will always live on in our hearts.”
