To Abby, Grant, Bryant and Brad... There are many things I could write, but in these moments where the ache is deepest, many words we mean as comfort become so familiar as to feel like platitudes. Just know that I am thinking of you all and praying that you will know the love of Jesus as you walk through this time. He truly is the only way, and the truest comfort. He is a saviour that knows what it is to grieve, knows what it is to suffer, and still poured himself out in compassion even for those who did not seek or desire Him. He is the healer of the deepest wounds... May His touch be the one that brings the joy and celebration of all that was good in Bruce to memory, easing the pain with remembered laughter and smiles. 

My memories of Bruce are of long talks, late at night - that time for many of us when our normal walls and barriers come down, and we really open our hearts. He had a soft centre, and he thought deeply. He shared stories of childhood, of his family and friends, and of how much it all meant to him. He truly stored things up in his heart, and valued them. I think of the many weekends I spent at Bruce and Abbie's over the years... the constant 'open door' for myself and my family, the genuine hospitality, and the easy-going acceptance that was offered to me. That never changed. Years could pass, as life took us all in different directions. But once you pulled into that driveway and walked through that door or into that backyard, the warmth and welcome was always the same. In that way, Bruce's heart was always on his sleeve, and I appreciated that so much. 

I remember enjoying family parties, sharing milestones, and even watching him play with my own children when that time came... He was simply Bruce, being himself. And I am thankful I had the opportunity to be a part of those moments. They are part of the colourful threads in the tapestry of my history, and he will always remain woven into my heart. You all will... and I am grateful. 


Our deepest condolences to Abbie and Grant. and family. What a great father, husband, co-worker and friend.  He will be missed greatly by all.  We had lots in common, shared many stories together.  Our teenagers grew up together  and our family became closer over the years.  

My deepest sympathy’s to Abbie, Grant and family. I worked with Bruce for the last 20 years. Bruce was always the first one to ask how I was doing each day. I will miss our lunchroom chats, where he would tell me what was in the newspaper he was reading. I will miss our jokes about his stained coffee cup from drinking black coffee and me having to tell Abbie if he didn’t clean it. Bruce’s love for his family was clear to everyone that knew him. He was so very proud of Grant and spoke of him often. Bruce will be missed greatly by everyone. 

Bruce was a kind man who always welcomed my whole family and was ready to share many laughs! He will be missed. We send so much love to his family and friends.

I worked with Bruce from 1982 to 1987 at the Hamilton SPCA. We became good friends and I have many cherished memories of hanging out at the house or cottage and the Monte Carlo. The SPCA was a difficult place to work sometimes and Bruce was a great support when times were tough. Rest in peace my friend it was an honor to know you!!

We are saddened by the passing of our friend and coworker Bruce. We will fondly remember his entertaining stories and willingness to help a stranger as much as a friend. I have had the great pleasure of working with Bruce for over 30 years. I will miss his daily heart felt greetings and his stories of our younger years on the job. 

Everyone that knew Bruce will tell you that he had a heart of gold, a caring smile, and showed kindness to everyone he came in contact with.  He often spoke of his son Grant, with Immense PRIDE.
