Robert Cecil Gentry

Robert Cecil Gentry, age 83 of Hamilton, Ohio, passed away at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater, Florida on November 30, 2017. Robert was born on January 29, 1934 in Lebanon, Ohio, one of six children born to Leo and Mamie (Isaacs) Gentry. Robert graduated from Lebanon High School, after that Robert worked at Cincinnati Bell Telephone as an engineer, retiring in 1992, after 35 years. Robert then went to work with his son at Security Lock Company, retiring again after 10 years. Robert enjoyed Bowling, pitching Horseshoes and spending time with family. He was preceded in death by his first wife, of 39 years, Eileen F. Gentry, they had three children, daughter, Tina (Mel) Burnett and their children Heather, Steven, Misty and Cathy. Son, Stan (Cherie) Gentry and their children, Alexis and Allison. Daughter, Patti Eileen Gentry all of Hamilton, Ohio and seven great-grandchildren. Robert is survived by his current wife of 17 years, Lorene (Sandlin) Gentry and her two children, son, Omar B. (Kathy) Sandlin, II and their son, Omar B. Sandlin, III of North Carolina, and daughter, Lena B. Sandlin of Florida. Also a special niece, Sharon (Andy) Pearson of Lexington, Kentucky. Robert and Lorene spent the last 14 years as “Snow Birds” in Largo, Florida where they owned a condo. Over that time they developed very dear friendships and enjoyed the winter months away. In June 2017, Robert and Lorene sold their Ohio home and become residents of Florida after the purchase of their new condo. He will be missed tremendously by all who knew him. Visitation will be held from 10am until 12pm on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South “D” Street, Hamilton. Funeral Service will be held at 12pm on Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Harold Thompson officiating. Interment will follow in Millville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s name to the National Kidney Foundation, Finance Dept., 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
