William Felton Daley Jr.

Born in Halifax on August 28, 1954, he was the son of William and Gladys (Clarke) Daley. He worked for many years with Nova Scotia Power, returning to school in 1990 to proudly graduate with his crane operator’s licence. He then worked at the Halifax Shipyards where he was recognized for his bravery when he jumped into action to put out a fire on one of the ships.

Bill faced many challenges in his life and left a lasting impression everywhere he went. There is no doubt about how much he loved his children, saving every card, drawing, and gift they gave him when they were little. He passed along his love of nice cars, driving, and music to his children, still showing his love of music in his final months in hospital. In his lifetime, he owned several Corvette’s, motorcycles, a Mustang, and a Mercedes. He instilled a love of driving in both his children who fondly remember riding around in his red Mustang or on the back of his motorcycle.

He loved watching a good boxing match, collecting coins and gadgets, playing Rummoli with his parents, enjoying his mother’s home cooking, a competitive game of pool, or a friendly arm wrestle with his son. He enjoyed trips including Hawaii, St. Lucia, Las Vegas, and Toronto where he saw the Rolling Stones and Tom Petty in concert.

Left to mourn his passing are his children Samantha Grace Comeau (Matthew MacMullin), William Joseph Daley (Reanne Vassallo); his mother Gladys Daley; siblings Linda (Doug) Stewart; Clifford (Shelley) Daley, and Debbie (Mike) Myrden. Also mourning his passing are Lisa Leightizer and Shelley Comeau (Paul Herron). He was predeceased by his father William Daley Sr. and niece Susan Stewart. His nieces and nephews brought smiles and laughter to him over the years, and they will miss their Uncle Bill.

The family wants to thank the doctors, nurses, and social workers on 8.1 at the Halifax Infirmary and 5B at the VG for their exceptional care and kindness over the past several months and in his final days.

An informal gathering will be held to honour Bill on Saturday, October 14 from 3 to 6 p.m. at JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. All are welcome.
