It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Vivian Mary Ella (Brown) Paris born December 1st, 1936 in Halifax, transitioned peacefully in the presence of her loving family at the Halifax Infirmary - QEII on January 3rd after a brief time in hospital. She was predeceased by her mother Ethel May Victoria (Slawter) Brown, father Leroy Jeffrey Brown, baby sister Juanita, sister Irene and brother Leonard. She is survived by her son Cecil Jr., and daughter Michele, grandchildren Brandy, Bryce, Brogan, Bronson and great grandson Elias all of Halifax, sisters Lorraine (Halifax), Sylvia (Richard) Montreal, Sharon (Halifax), Maxine (Jean -Claude) Ottawa, Deborah (Halifax), Carolyn (Halifax) and brothers Terry (Marlene) and Derrick (Sharon) both of Halifax, godchild and niece Chrystal whom mom named, sister in law Deborah, Alice( Alabama) and many nieces and nephews. She was recently predeceased on December 16th, 2022 by her loving husband of 60 years Cecil Seamore.
Mom was quite simply a delight. She had an irrepressible sense of humour and kindness of spirit that drew people in and was sensitive to people and things around her. Being the second eldest of 12 children, Mom helped her mother with the younger children when their father passed in1960. Mom graduated from Miss Murphy’s Business College and then pursued a career at the VG hospital as an administrative assistant. During the early years in her career, she would save money to buy the latest fashions at Mills Brothers on Spring Garden Rd. Her younger sisters would raid her closet when she went to work and promptly put her clothes back before she returned home at the end of the day. Mom worked in various departments at the VG and made many friends along the way, several of whom she continued to call friends until her passing. She gave 32 years of service with the Provincial Government until retiring in 1992.
Mom volunteered at the IWK Children’s Hospital holding sick babies when their parents couldn’t be there. She also volunteered at Rockingham Elementary School when her granddaughter attended, going on many school trips as well as volunteering at Ecole du Beaubassin when her grandsons attended. Mom was strong in her faith and was a member of Birch Cove Baptist Church and taught Sunday School at Trinity Anglican Church for many years.
Mom loved her children and grandchildren with all her heart and would do anything for them and enjoyed spoiling them. She could not have a birthday celebration for one grandchild without buying a gift for all of them. She forged many friendships along the way thorough Weight Watchers, her career, volunteering and even at French classes! Her unfailing sweet personality endeared her to all who knew her. No one could meet her, it seemed, without loving her and mom telling them she loved them in the sincerest and most beautiful way. She continued to be patient, humorous and faithful until the very end. Her courage was exceptional right up until the moment God called her home.
The family would like to acknowledge the many nurses on 7.4 at the QEII. As well, the family wishes to express special gratitude to Donna on 7.4 and Reverend Joe Green, Hospital Chaplain. Funeral service will be held for the immediate family. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Birch Cove Church.
