FAWSON, Theresa Rose - 84, Halifax, died November 3, 2010. Born and raised in Halifax, daughter of the late James Henry and Catherine Mary Collins. Survived by her children, Margaret, James (Lynda), Frank, Patrick (Pauline); grandchildren Myles, Jenna, Samantha, Sarah, Angela and Michael; six great-grandchildren Jaymie, Ayden, Luke, Cameron, Mykeirah and Ava Rose; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by husband Percival Louis, brothers Francis, John, Anthony, Gerard and sister Mary. She was the youngest and last surviving member of her family and was known as “Tweeny Rose “.
Theresa graduated from Saint Patrick’s High School in 1946 and followed this by completing a Secretarial Program being piloted by Mount Saint Vincent University. She began working for the Federal Government on summer breaks during high school. She worked for the War Times Prices and Trades Board and the Department of National Defense Message Center (Marcom). Then for twenty years she raised a family while following her husband on military postings to Germany, Alberta, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. She returned to the labor force in 1966 and was employed by the Department of Manpower and Immigration retiring in 1994. For many years she worked at the Canada Manpower Center on Gottingen Street in Halifax.
Theresa was a trained singer who always cherished a career in music. She is a former member of the Armdale Chorus (Blue Belles). Her joy in life was music and she took every opportunity to sing. She was a community volunteer and at one time served as the Girl Guides Commissioner in the Prospect Road Area. She loved figure skating and contributed at the 1996 Canadian National Figure Skating Championships in Halifax by organizing applications for accreditation.
