WHITNEY, Theodore Henry – Halifax. It is with great sadness that Ted, Dad, Grandpa, a man of unending love, wittiness, kindness and generosity has passed away on Monday, May 14, 2012, in the QEII hospital. Born in Halifax he was a son of the late Theodore George Clarey and Beatrice Mae Whitney. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Halifax. In his earlier years he sang with the First Baptist Choirs; Olands Mens' Choir and the Nova Scotia Opera, well known for his tenor voice. He also received many years of enjoyment from his piano and his Hammond organ. In more recent years he spent much of his time listening to Seaside FM Community Radio. He served in the Second World War, in the Northern Signals Unit in the North West Territories. He attended Saint Mary's University and spent most of his life operating his business, Theodore Whitney Ocean Products, well known for the best fish in the city. After serious illness in his mid-life, Ted worked until retirement at Citadel Motors (General Motors) where he was a Grand Master Salesman.
His greatest joy in life was his family for which he had unending love, pride and admiration. He enjoyed spending summers at the cottage in Gaetz Brook on Soles Lake especially with his family and friends. He is survived by his son Dahrl and his wife Joan, and precious grandchildren, Meredith (Cayman Islands BWI) and Stewart (fiancee Tara Millar) (Halifax). Ted is also survived by his sister Dorothy Jones and his brother Lloyd (Julia); niece Brenda Desveaux and nephew Leslie Thompson. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Jean (Ryback).
