Susan was a person who expressed joy with little effort. She lived a full life full of passion and love.
Professionally, Susan had a notably successful career with RBC. She impacted thousands of clients, as well as all the teams she worked with. In the words of a close friend and former colleague:
"I can attest that the impact that Susan had on me continues to live on, and that can be said for dozens of colleagues here in Halifax. The things that I remember most were the almost song-like way Susan greeted each client: 'Susan Drew; so nice to meet you,' and with that, the bond was formed. Nobody had the ability to make a client feel warmly welcomed and cared for like Susan did. Back in 2008, Susan achieved what very few folks with RBC earn, and all of us strive for; Susan earned the RBC Convention, which is a Caribbean cruise that she got to share with the love of her life. It was the culmination of years of exceptional service to our clients, our staff, and our community. Susan was an exceptional employee, colleague, mentor, and friend, and we miss her dearly."
As much as Susan loved her work, she loved her free time even more and loved time spent in the outdoors. She was constantly creating projects for herself and would spend hours working tirelessly on passion projects with her husband, like renovating an old trailer into a cosy getaway. She loved the simple things in life like a long walk on a warm day or the smell of fresh laundry from the clothesline. She had a passion for interior design that was easily seen in her beautiful home. She loved the ocean and swimming, but above all, Susan valued her family.
She is predeceased by her sister Janet Elaine. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Donald, her two children, Morgan and Arwen, her sister Kim (Dan), and her brother Gerald (Helene), as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, and many wonderful friends, with a special mention to friends Sandy, Wendy, Chris, and niece Julie.
Her kind heart, empathy, and selflessness were evident in both her personal and professional life, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
A small public service will be held on the 22nd of April at J. A. Snow Funeral Home at 339 Lacewood Drive, to honour Susan's life and memory. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice.
