Age 84, passed away in Halifax on April 12, 2016. She was the daughter of Merle (Hubley) and James Redden. She lived her childhood years in Middle
Musquodobit, before moving to Rockingham where she spent the rest of her life.
Shirley was a mother, a homemaker and unwavering in her dedication to her family. She took great pride in her home and spent countless hours tending her beautiful gardens.
For years she canvased the community for many charities and showed kindness and generosity to her neighbors.
Shirley bowled for 65 years and also enjoyed her bingo. Her homemade baked goods, seafood chowder and pickles were legendary.
As an armchair sports enthusiast, she was Sidney Crosby’s biggest fan, and also loved to watch curling.
She was predeceased by her husband Paul, sister Joan Cox and grandson Danny Baker.
Shirley is survived by son, Paul (Dale); daughters, Donna (Bob) Baker, Elizabeth Miller (Peter Marshall), Cathy (Paul) Potter and Beverlee (Philip) Cox. Grandchildren, Karen, Dara, Niall, Dawn, Robyn, Erin, Sean and Mark and several great grandchildren. Also survived by brother, Doug (Doris) Redden and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on May 20, 2016 from 7-9 PM at JA Snows Funeral Home 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 21 at 11:00 AM in Rockingham United Church, 12 Flamingo Drive, Halifax. Interment will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Lower Sackville at 2:00 PM.
