Wilson, Roy Douglas – 85, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully Feb. 10, 2013, at the QEII, VG Site, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Chester, NS, he was the son of the late Lena & Ernest Wilson. He was predeceased by his parents, infant brother Robert, first wife Marilyn (Hynes) Wilson, and second wife Dorothy McCoombs. He is survived by his daughter Diane Wilson, Dartmouth; Nancy (Dean) Kenley, Digby; granddaughters Courtney Kenley, Halifax; and Zara Kenley, Digby; brother, Donald (Sandy) Wilson, Chester; and sister, Doris Wilson, Western Shore.
Roy worked most of his life in the building supply business and enjoyed many years volunteering with the Army Cadets. He would like to say a special thank you to Admiral Miller (retired) and Admiral MacLean (retired) for all their support and assistance. Most recently he took great pleasure volunteering at the Bide-A-While Animal Shelter, where he made many friends. Roy had an entertaining sense of humor, was an avid sailor, and enjoyed traveling the world on several cruises.
He will be sadly missed by his family and special friends – Carol Anne, Carol, Sarah, and Charlie.
Funeral service will be held at Chester United Baptist Church on Feb.13, 2013, at 2 p.m. Dr. Dan Green officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or charity of choice.
