He was a long-time employee of the Halifax Dockyards, retiring in 2012 with 30 plus years of employment. He had a lifelong passion for playing golf and spending his Friday nights with the guys, playing cards. Ron grew up in the North End of Halifax, and he will always be remembered by his kind spirit and loyal friendship to many.
Ron is survived by his wife of 41 years, Judy Burns (nee Newbury), his only child, Cheryl Burns; Halifax, and his beloved companion, his cat, Sammy. He is also survived by his sister, Irene Johnston; Bedford, and his sisters-in-law, Nancy Newbury, Marie Burns and Vivian Burns; Halifax, many nieces and nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his father, William Burns; mother, Helen Burns (nee Lanigan); brothers, William, Roy, and Robert; sisters, Winnie Bayers and Mary Findlay.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, from 2:00pm – 4:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm and the Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2020, at 10am, all in J.A. Snow Funeral home 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax.
