It is still hard to believe this larger than life man is no longer with us. He seemed invincible to me! I carry his training with me every shift. I am grateful to have known Rob and to have learned from him. I will truly never forget him. ♥️

I just found out about Rob's passing a few minutes ago as I was reading today's paper.  I got to know the Daniel family from my days working at the West End Mall in Halifax when they operated a restaurant there.  I last saw Rob when I ran into him and his brother Tony at Scotia Square some years ago we gave each other a big hug. It was good to see them again. My sincere condolences to his wife and family and his mom and siblings. God bless you.

He had such an infectious personality as a young man, a fantastic smile and warm heart. 
I can tell by watching the tribute video that he became a fine husband, father and man. This is not at all surprising to me.

To Lisa and Sophie, I was deeply saddened when I heard of the passing of your husband/father. I knew Rob when he was posted to Yarmouth Town and I was at County. Went on many calls with Rob and no matter what the call was, Rob would later tell a very embellished story of the call ( which generally did not match the real facts) and he would have everyone in stitches with his story. I transferred out of H Division in 2003 but every now and then I would bump into Rob somewhere and he always had that grin on his face. A really great trainer but most importantly, he was a truly great person. I am so thankful that I am able to call him my friend. Rob made a positive impact on so many peoples lives. RIP my friend.

Dear Lisa,

I will never be able to articulate how incredible a man your husband was to us in the policing world. The lives he touched,  saved and protected are in the thousands. I have never met a better man and that I am certain of. His love for you was overwhelming, something to be desired. He did not deserve his life to be cut short like this. I know he would have had some positive spin on the time he did have but he was simply taken far too soon. 

He would always tell me I could do anything. I can hear him saying to me, “Lise, you know me, would I lie to you?” I can hear it as if he was standing here right now! 

His smile lit up even the darkest of rooms. When he was in the building, people knew it. His happiness was infectious, his passion for everything is his life was second to none. I can’t think of a greater loss. There is a hole in my heart that will never be filled. I can’t imagine what you are going through. I am praying for you and your sweet baby girl each and everyday. Rob leaving this world at his age is no small loss to any of us. He was an absolute gem! One of a kind!!!

I was fortunate to have met Rob in 2001 in Yarmouth. We hit it off and became workout partners for some time. Strong as an ox and always smiling.  I remember getting called out once and dropped my son off at his house. Rob took my son in and treated him like family. He was always helping others. 
 I was so happy to hear he met the absolute love of his life and then to see him speak of his little girl.
 I am heartbroken to hear of this loss in so many ways.  I have lost someone I would call a friend. The police world has lost a very dedicated and passionate person but most importantly his family has lost someone that was larger than life itself. May they somehow find solace in knowing he loved his Family, his roots more than anything

In 3rd and 4th Grade, we’d play intramural sports at St.Agnes. The lunch we packed was eaten by recess. Rob would invite about 3 friends over to his family’s restaurant in the Mall across the street; unannounced. Mrs. Daniel always accepted us but after a while the gig was up. And this day, it was going to stop. Until Rob pleaded with Mom, “but, Ma, they’ve never tried the fish n chips?!” His charm won out in the end.

Rob would put it all on the line with for his friends and he was a friend for life.

I was a student at millwood high when he was are school police officer , a lot of the kids there didn’t have respect for police officers until they had met rob .. rob was not just an ordinary cop , no matter what he was there for the sole purpose of your safety and well-being, he was not there just for the fun of it .. he wanted to be there , and us as students welcomed him . He helped me through many situations that I couldn’t have handled  on my own , he taught me how not to be treated and what I deserve... he showed me what a good role model was , the one he didn’t even know he was presenting to me ... The role model that is Rob himself ... I inspire to be even half the person he was and gain that type of respect when I become a cop myself . I truly would not be here or even who I am if it was not for him helping me through out the way and showing me that it’s okay and that it will get better .. I can’t thank him enough for the Stuff he has done for me during my time at millwood high... and I can say this with 100% confidence there is no cop like him , he’s what people should strive to be like .. till we meet again . As Rob’s fellow instructor over the years, I can attest to the meaningful impact Rob has had on both his training audience, community and peers alike. It is hard to describe when someone has that special energy to impart one’s skills and abilities...Rob had it tenfold. He would always deliver his message with passion and humour and it was an effective combination. My kids also got to know him as their school officer...and they too considered him a  legend.

You may not know me but I was on of robs student who adored, loved, and respected rob more then anything. He taught me so much more then any teacher in school could. Rob helped me through a lot, more then what was in his job description, that’s for sure. He picked me up when I was down and put me together when I was broken. He knew when something was wrong and wouldn’t leave my side until he knew I was okay.  He’s the reason I’m here today, the reason I graduated, the reason I’m going to follow in his footsteps. I am a member of the RCMP and worked with Rob in Windsor in 2005-2008.  Rob took me out on patrol on my very first shift on the job, and we took my career’s first call together. I still remember that day as if it were yesterday. Not only did I enjoy working with Rob, but I also valued him as a friend. Unfortunately, we didn’t didn’t stay in touch after I left H Division, but I have always considered him as a friend and a brother in the big RCMP family. Rob took me around to all the schools my first day on the job in Community Policing. It happened to be the first day or two of school.    I was there when  he gave a speech to the new kids at Millbrook.  He gave this rock star level kind of speech.  I loved his analogy that the school was his town and he was the Sheriff.  That no one was to do anything illegal in his town or they would have to deal with the Sheriff.   I loved the analogy and told him so and he chuckled.  He set the bar..but he was so naturally gifted I couldn’t imagine anyone being able to reach that bar.

When I was in elementary school, I was not overweight or underweight just an average kid and one day Rob picked me up by the book bag as though he was picking up a pen off the floorhaha !  He was strong in more ways than one. His character, his morals ,his attitude and his ability to make everyone crack a smile or laugh was one of his many skills. He was someone that lit up a room and made an impression. Personally, he was a role model and helped with some tough times and was never ever selfish. From my Football brother at SMU to my brother in Blue.  Rob always had a smile on his face at every greeting between us.  After we finished at Saint Mary's University; and I went on to Coach with the Football Team...I will always remember the early meals that you and his Family provided at their restaurant the Mediterraeo on Game day weekends....always a class act with a beautiful family ALWAYS giving back.

We both went into Law Enforcement and drifted a bit with our career and family...BUT...every time we saw each other...there was that smile again....and the time to talk about memories and fun, but mostly to talk about our families; I know how much you loved yours my brother.  Your smile will always be missed, but always remembered.

I didn’t know Rob but 3 members of my Family have worked with the RCMP and I followed a similar path as him as both a Saint Mary’s Football Player and a Police Officer however my service was with the  HRP.

I had the pleasure to have coached Rob  as well as being his teacher.  Rob’s  devotion to Halifax West and his sport will always be both unforgettable and inspiring ,both on and off the field. He gave every minute he could,  post grad to helping others, to the delight and admiration of players and coaches. In my 30 years of coaching, Rob has been one of the players with which I always had a strong family attachment and friendship right to last days. His hard work and sense of humour will be in my heart forever  We all love you Rob. And our live goes out to his beautiful family, of which he was so proud.




 

Deepest condolences to Rob's family - I worked with Rob over the years in training with the RCMP - passionate, charismatic and beloved are three words any one who had the pleasure of knowing Rob would no doubt use to describe him.  I remember one particular day on the range, I wasn't having such a great day - Rob took me by the shoulders and said "Luvy - you can do this" - and I did - he could motivate like no other.   
Rob Daniel was larger than life - God speed my friend.

 Rob and I played against and with each other for many years on several different teams , The 1st Team NS Football to SMU  -  great opponent and team mate. Left it on the field every game. 
The way I will remember Rob is he always had a smile and truly was interested in how others were doing.
Whenever he would see me, he stopped fo ask how things were going.
Just 2 weeks ago I was out for dinner I hadn’t seen Rob in a long while and he came over to my table to say hello. Kind of guy he was.  Was great to see you and  I’m so glad we had a chance to talk and share a couple laughs. Rest easy brother.

My sincere condolences to Lisa, Sophia and family. Rob was a mentor, a friend and a brother. I have many fond memories  of Rob having trained with him for many years. Sophia know that your father was a truly special person that touch and inspired everyone that ever met him . Rob  greeted everyone he worked with with  a smile, a hug , and had so much love and concern for his brothers and sisters in uniform. Your father was bigger then life and will be deeply missed by all. 

I am soo saddened about all of this. Rob was an oak tree & his spirit was infectious along with his smile that made you feel welcomed at any time. He was my friend. My condolences to Lisa, to his daughter and to all family & friends close to Rob. Love Gerard 

Oh my sweet lisa i am sooo very sorry to hear of the passing of your husband.. i only met him.once or twice at the christmas fairs he seemed like such a kind seeet man with alot of love for you and miss sophia, but when you talked of him you beamed there was no denying it was true love. I only knew Rob professionaly but was fortunate to receive training from him.  Rob would train us Auxiliaries on his own time on weekends. It was easy to tell he was passionate about officer safely and went out of his way to make sure we learned how to be safe and to be better Auxiliaries.  He was tough but kind and always so positive.  Truly a great loss and my condolences to his family whom I am sure this loss has left a big hole. 

Rob always took time for me and showed great interest in the pups I raised in my role as an imprinter in the RCMP quarry program.  He was always willing to take a “bite”.  He was patient and kind. He will be missed.

I was one of the lucky ones to go to high school at the old Halifax West where I had the pleasure of meeting Rob and getting to hang out with him in the halls and cafeteria.  He was always smiling and laughing and giving hugs!  I remember when he tried to leave the cafeteria with fries and the Moms stopped him and he tried to charm the moms to let him out with those fries.  That may have been the only time his charm didn't work.  He was such an amazing person!  He had such passion for everything he did.  My thoughts and prayers to Lisa and his daughter Sophia and to his mother and siblings.  He will be missed.

My sincerest condolences to you and your family. Rob was always such a friendly face to meet in the detachment or around HQ. I will never forget the first day I met Rob- it was my very first day as a DA in Sackville. I saw Rob heading out the door in his uniform to start the day- head to toe in black. I thought “wow, a real life G.I Joe!” He was so friendly. I will never forget that. 

So Sorry for your loss. I met Rob when he was in the Windsor Detachment. Rob was in attendance for the very first meeting to discuss the Avon View High School football team. He was founding coach and a driving force to get the team up and running

His passion for football, community, community protection, and the RCMP were second to none.

I worked with Lisa at Fairview School and we became friends. When Lisa’s mom, Kathy, became sick with cancer, this wonderful man, Rob, swooped in like “Superman” to help Lisa through Kathy’s short battle with cancer and then with preparations for her funeral. This led to a bond of love which created their greatest love of all, Sophia!  I later found out that Rob was a friend of the family. I know that Kathy was reassured when Rob, told  her, before she passed, that he would look over Lisa. And so he did!! 
It is with profound sadness that I send my sincerest condolences to Lisa and Sophia! 
You would be happy to know, Rob, that I haven’t  gotten any speeding tickets since that “rough patch “ in which you delighted in calling me “convict”.

Rob was an inspiration to his brothers and sisters of the Force and set the standard that we all hope to one day achieve.   His ability to lead and develop members in a positive way was unmatched across the country.   We will all miss the Big Man dearly.  I wish his family my condolences and to continue to stay together and strong as he always would want.

Sending you so much love Lisa & Sophia.  Rob was an incredible neighbour and part of the Springvale community. His larger than life personality and infectious laugh will always be fondly remembered.  My sincere condolences to you and Rob's family.

It was with heavy hearts that we learned of the passing of your dearest Robert.  Hopefully, and eventually the gigantic void that you  now all feel in your hearts  can be softened by the wonderful memories that  you  shared during the short time that the Lord gave  him. I had the privilege of getting to know Rob as the Liaison officer at millwood high and the football coach.    My son played on the team and I was team manager for a few years.   His dedication to the players and the respect he showed them will stay with them always.    Rob became a mentor to my son on and off the field, he was special to our family and remained so even after graduation.   My hearts breaks for his family and all that knew him.  Rob impacted every person he met with his kind heart and a smile that lit up whatever room he was in.    You will always be remembered big guy❤️
