CHIASSON, Robert B. “Bob”, “Chess”, BCom, CA – 78, passed away suddenly and peacefully on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at his home in Halifax. Bob was the son of the late Dr. Bernard and Eileen (Markley) Chiasson. He attended Saint Mary’s Boys School and then Saint Mary’s University, where he played varsity hockey. He fondly remembered his school years and enjoyed reminiscing about them. Bob began his career as a chartered accountant with A.W. Linton & Co.; following mergers, he became a partner with Deloitte & Touche, now known as Deloitte. He was passionate about his career. Bob was an avid golfer throughout his life and a member of the Ashburn Golf Club. He also belonged to the prestigious “Romeos” group and treasured time with his friends, who will dearly miss him. Bob was a devout Roman Catholic. He served as an usher at St. Lawrence Church until its closure and then joined St. Agnes parish. He lent his time to many boards and councils throughout his life. Bob is survived by his wife Pat (Knight), sons Robert Jr. (Tara) and Chris (Nicole), daughter Alison MacGillivary (Ken), beloved granddaughter Ivy, his sister Dot MacDonald, and extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, an infant brother Bernard, and his Aunt Madeline Tobin, who played a special role in his life. Visitation will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, on Thursday, June 21 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 23 at St. Agnes Church, 6903 Mumford Road, Halifax, with Father John Williams officiating.
