McWhirter, Rita Carmel-85, of Halifax passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Saturday March 3, 2012 at the QE II Halifax Infirmary. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Harriett (Cole) Hayden. Rita spent many years caring for the elderly at St. Vincent’s Guest Home. She is survived by her sisters, Lillian, Halifax, Marion, Port Coquitlam B.C., Shirley, Toronto, and Evelyn of Bedford, and niece Cathy, Peterborough. She was predeceased by her brothers, Raymond, Kenny, William and Donald. Special thanks to Rita’s friends who gave her comfort, Donna and Anita.
