On June 4, 2024, we lost a treasured soul and a pillar of our family with the passing of Richard Albert Ross, affectionately known as “RR”. Richard left this world leaving behind a legacy of integrity, kindness, generosity, and a life rich in accomplishments. Richard was born on June 14, 1977, in North York Ontario to Lee and Brian Ross. After extensive international travel in his twenties, Richard chose to lay down his roots in Halifax, NS. Richard’s professional path began at Halifax BMW where he worked for five years. Then in 2013 he channeled his dedication and passion into building Sunshine Renewable Energy, his expertise and vision led him to build Sunshine from the ground up to a company that employs 60 people. This journey has been marked by dedication, sacrifice, and excellence.
In 2008, Richard met Nicole Gerrard and together, they joined their families in marriage in 2014. Richard treasured his role as father to Alex Ross, and stepfather to Rhys and Chloe Melnick. His role as a family man was one he cherished above all others. Richard’s life was rich with his lifelong passion for travel and his mentorship to employees which showed his dedication to his profession and his generous spirit. Richard’s life was one of giving to others, even at his own expense—whether it was his time, his knowledge, or his love, all he wished for was for others to be happy and did all he could to achieve that.
His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his parents Lee and Brian Ross, loving wife Nicole Gerrard, son Alex Ross and step-children Rhys and Chloe Melnick. His absence will also be felt profoundly by his cuddle buddy Meatball the dog, and a community of friends and employees who respected and admired him.
Reception will be held on June 12, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 pm at JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, NS. Richard's life was a beacon of how to live with purpose, passion and love. He will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will be a comfort to all who knew him.
