Rebecca Sok Ying Wong

She will be greatly missed by Peter, her loving husband of 45 years, her three daughters Maisie Wong (Bruce), Michelle Manuel (Jason), Kathleen Dolan (Kevin) and her grandchildren Andrew, Nathan, Peter, James, Clarke, and Brooke Rebecca.

She will also leave behind a large group of family, extended family, and friends, including her beloved godchildren, Elaine Jay (Patrick), Peter Lee (Winifred), and Karen Fudge (David).

Born in Hong Kong June 16th 1940, Rebecca came to Canada in 1968. She was an avid chef and hosted many happy feasts for her family and friends. As a successful small business owner for over 25 years, she was a hard worker who contributed to her community and volunteered time with the Chinese Society of Nova Scotia. She enjoyed ballroom dancing and travelling, although her greatest love was spending time with her family and friends and being a devoted grandmother to her six grandchildren.

Her smile lit up every room and she will be fondly remembered as a vibrant, kind, and generous soul by those whose lives she touched.

Special thanks to Dr. Wayne MacLeod, the Oncology team at CDHA, the Capital Health Integrated Palliative Health Care Team, and the wonderful friends who have supported Rebecca and family through this difficult time.

Visitation on Sunday May 5th, 2:00-4:00 pm, and 6:00-8:00 pm at Snow’s Funeral Home on Lacewood Drive, Halifax. A service will be held at St Benedict Parish, Halifax, on Monday, May 6th at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society Nova Scotia.
