Ralph Norman Hollett, age 89 of Halifax, passed away peacefully at White Hills Long Term Care Facility on Saturday April 26, 2014. He was born in Boston, MA, and was the middle son of Joseph and Gladys Hollett. He was an army veteran of the Second World War. He was a local business man, a carpenter, he worked many years at the Halifax Forum, he sold real estate, and jointly with his brother Ray, owned and operated The Old Halifax Tavern. He was a member of the Chief & PO’s mess, The Fairview Legion and Brightwood Golf and Country Club. He loved to entertain with stories, jokes, and reciting poetry. Ralph & Joyce spent many happy years travelling in their motor home throughout Canada and the US golfing and they frequently went to the Mardi Gras in New Orleans. He was predeceased by his parents; his loving wife of 46 years, (Joyce (Stokes); son, Ralph; daughter, Joyce; infant son, Michael; brothers, Clem, Ray and Jackie. He is survived by his children, Judy (Les Martell), Janet (Rick Smith), Debbie, Pat (Billie Sue) and Eddie (Judi); 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; brother, Donnie and many nieces and nephews. Arrangements have been entrusted to J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, (455-0531) where a visitation will be held on Wednesdays, April 30 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Funeral Services will be held in Saint Theresa’s Parish on Friday, May 2 at 11:15 am. The family is very grateful to Dr. Barry Clarke and the staff at White Hills Long Term Care Facility for their care of Ralph during the last four years. Donations may be made in Ralph’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of choice.
