It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden, unexpected passing of our brother, Nick Jones on Tuesday, June 7th, 2022, at the age of 44, at the QEII Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Nick was born at the Grace Maternity Hospital in Halifax to Christopher and Susan (Tingley) Jones. He attended Dartmouth High, where he made many life-long friends who he enjoyed skateboarding and surfing with as often as he could. Due to a shared love of music, he also spent copious amounts of time playing guitar in a couple of bands he and his friends created. He was a genuinely phenomenal natural artist and enjoyed drawing and painting regularly, which seemed to come with such ease to him. As did the hilarious hijinks which kept everyone around him on their toes and laughing; he was incredibly clever, which helped him with this, as well as ensured he was able to skate easily through school.
Nick graduated the NSCC Landscape Architecture course in the Valley and spent some years working for and beautifying the City of Dartmouth.
He spent many of his later years as a successful entrepreneur, running his own thriving ice cream “barn”, then flourished working as a subcontractor doing drywall, which he’d perfected as his own artform, always keeping him busy with tonnes of work.
Nick was devastated to be predeceased by both of his parents, Christopher and Susan Jones, in the months leading up to his passing.
Nick is survived by his children, Alexandra (mother Erin) Rose, Noah (mother Jennifer) Trenholm Jones, and Nicholas (mother Teresa) McCormick, as well as his favourite (and only ;) nephew, Christian Jones (Jason).
He’s also survived by his brother, Jason (Alessandra and son, Christian) Jones (Rieti, Italy), who’d been his best friend (unfortunately over Skype in recent years due to distance), who he’d created numerous unforgettable memories with, whether it had been adventuring out with the boys or just hanging out, one-on-one, both in person or online, they enjoyed their time together more than anything. He is survived by his sister, Jennifer Jones (Halifax, NS) as well, who, although they drove each other mad, they loved each other unconditionally just as intensely.
Cremation is taking place with Harbourside, in keeping with his parents, and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date (at the beginning of August with the return of his brother, his brother’s wife and son).
There will be a visitation for family from 1-2PM and also for friends and extended family from 2-4PM on Friday, June 17th, 2022 at Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home at 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
