Moira Heather Ingarfield, age 90, of Halifax, NS passed away June 25, 2023 at the Northwood Bedford campus. Born in Glace bay, NS. She was the daughter of Cecil Otis Boyd and Flora (MacPherson) Boyd.
Moira was raised in Canso, NS. She attended secretarial college in New Glasgow, NS and upon completion, moved to Halifax. She married Allan Ingarfield in 1957 and had two children, William and Lynn. The family moved abroad to Barbados in 1970 for one year and again lived abroad in Kingston, Jamaica from January, 1976 to July 1978. Upon return to Halifax, she worked at Dalhousie University. Moira enjoyed travelling, and travelled extensively with family and friends throughout her life. She was a voracious reader, loved music and dance and was very active in her church, St. Peter's Anglican in Birch Cove, eventually becoming a lay reader.
Survived by her son William (Bill) Ingarfield, daughter Lynn Ingarfield and granddaughter Alison Horton. She is also survived by brother in law Herbert Ingarfield and sisters in law Joan Ingarfield, Margaret Ingarfield and Elizabeth Boyd as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Alfreda Boyd and brother Gregory Boyd.
Many thanks to the staff at the Geriatric Falls clinic for the excellent care and support provided to Moira and her family. Special thanks also to the staff of Northwood Bedford Campus, Ivany place for their kindness, compassion and care of Moira in her final months.
As with many of her generation, Moira faced life with an admirable degree of quiet courage. We will all greatly miss her warmth, wit and infectious smile.
