It is with our deepest regrets that we announce the death of Michael William Eelhart (45). He passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday December 5, 2023 in the early morning. The cause of his death was a sudden vascular rupture.
Michael was born and raised in Edmonton until he the age of 18, when he joined the Royal Canadian Navy. He retired as a Captian (N) in 2022 after 26 years of service in the RCN. He was also proud of achieving 100 donations to the Canadian Blood Services. He especially loved cheering on his Edmonton Oilers, spending time with his family on camping trips and enjoying his dream home on the lake.
Michael’s positive outlook and energizing spirit touched so many lives. He was a mentor, confidant, and extraordinary friend to nearly everyone who had the pleasure of working and socializing with him. The outpouring of grief and love for him that his family is now experiencing is a true testament to the lives that Michael has touched.
He lived his life as the true example of an officer and a gentleman.
He is survived by his loving wife Kelly, and his two sons Owen (19) and Xavier (10), who reside in their family home in Halifax. He is also survived by his parents, Stan and Marian, his siblings Daniel (Meg), Susan (Jeremy) and Nicholas.
A celebration of life will be held on January 27, from 1400-1700 at Juno Towers in his hometown of Halifax.
Michael would have still been donating blood today if he was able. Please consider making a donation in his memory or consider a donation to AutismNovaScotia, an organization dear to his heart.
