It is with profound sadness, I announce the passing of my wife and best friend, Maureen. Affectionately known as Mo, passed away on April 21, 2024, at the Victoria General Hospital, in Halifax, Nova Scotia , after a brief illness. I would like to thank everyone for their kindness and support during this difficult time. Sincere thanks to Dr. Andrew Humphrey and the staff at Richmond Medical for their continued guidance and support over the many years.
Mo, born in Montreal, to the late Patricia and Ben Miller, moved to NS with her family in the late 1950’s. Survived by her husband Randy (Halifax), brother Ron (Betty) Miller, Fall River. Nieces, Jennifer (Halifax), Rachel (PEI), and Charlotte (Halifax). Nephews, Tim (Stacey) (Toronto), Philip (Lindsay) Whitehorse and Jake (Halifax). Predeceased by brother Butch and sister Roseanne (Terry) Rafuse ( Halifax).
Mo loved life. She cherished her family and friends dearly, including her love for animals. In particular, Mo loved Mini Schnauzers and considered her three boys Tusket, Remy and Fred to be members of her family. Her continuous smile and the twinkle in her eyes warmed the room. Mo was a caring, generous person, with an outgoing personality. She was fun loving, stylish and adored her collection of sunglasses. Mo had a wanderlust adventure for travel that was combined with her passion to explore new cultures.
Over the years, Mo’s Cafe was the gathering spot for numerous legendary events for many, which were filled with laughter where some classic life memories were made. The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Mo. Finding that perfect retreat to read with a glass of red or a Corona was a perfect moment. Being with family, friends, or hosting on the deck at Sebastian Street Beach, was considered a large day. Mo’s kitchen was always the heart of her home, known for its warmth and the unforgettable aromas coming from her oven.
We have lost a wonderful soul, far too soon - she will be forever missed. Private intermittent will be held. Family and friends are welcome to attend Mo’s Celebration of Life on Sunday May 19, 2024, from 2 - 5 pm, at The Cable Wharf on Halifax’s waterfront.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Nova Scotia SPCA (Dartmouth), Feed Nova Scotia, or Charity of Choice.
