Marie Marcella Roach

After becoming a mom at a young age, Marcella attended nursing school in Sydney and for several years, worked at the Foyer Père Fiset in Chéticamp and the nursing home in Inverness.

She spent the following years raising her family in Cheticamp. In 2003, Marcella and Raymond moved to Halifax to be closer to her children and grand children. She adored them and was blessed to see them all graduate and become young adults.

Once the kids were all grown up, her time was spent with Raymond travelling to warm places, camping, attending musical festivals where they met wonderful friends.

Marcella loved her children, grand-children, family, friends and everyone unconditionally and without judgment. She truly was happy for other people's happiness and success and never complained about her health struggles. She was the strongest person we knew and will be missed dearly by her family and many friends.

She is survived by her loving husband, Raymond, daughters Olivia (Bruce) and Courteney; step-daughters Tina (Mark) and Angela (Dave); grand-children Ben, Renee, Jacob, Connor, MacKenzie, Kaitlyn, Nadia, Riley and Simon. Her mom Laurette, siblings Lisette (Yves), Bernell (Pam), and Paulette (Steven) along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly as her own children. Also left behind is her fur baby Josée who gave her much comfort in the past year.

She was predeceased by her loving baby boy Clinton, her father Paul Albert, infant brother Jean Elmer, grand-parents, brother in law Linus, and nieces Ashley and Lindsay.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the numerous staff at the VG and the QEII in Halifax for all the care she received over the years.

Arrangements have been entrusted to JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 6 from 6pm-8pm and a celebration of life service will be held Wednesday, February 7 at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Cancer Society and/or the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia.
