Margaret Angela Theriault

Margaret Angela Theriault was born in Digby, NS to Carol and Robert Theriault. She is survived by her partner Glenn Woodford; Mother Carol; daughters Sophia, Zara, and Farah; siblings John, Peter, Jason, and Bridget. She was predeceased by her father Robert.

After a courageous battle with cancer, Margaret passed away early March 13. Her mantra was “I’m fighting for a miracle,” and she did all she could to be able to achieve this.

If anyone faced off with Margaret over a board game, they would soon discover her highly competitive nature, as she would never lose anything without a fight.

She was a cheerful person who adored her family; and especially loved spending time with her children, siblings, and parents. She would give everything to the ones she loved, at times, almost literally the shirt off her back. Margaret’s relationship with her brothers was full of humorous banter. Her response was “Gross!” whenever they smothered her in hugs and kisses, but her big, infectious smile and contagious giggle belied her reaction and proved she secretly loved it. She also treasured the magic of Christmas and always made it special for her girls.

Throughout her life, Margaret prioritized her health by eating healthy foods and waking up three hours before work, no matter what, to squeeze in a workout. She also cherished her daily walks and frequent bicycle trips.

Margaret loved her weekends, and after a long work week her favorite activity was driving to the Annapolis Valley or the South Shore with Glenn. The perfect couple, he loved to drive, and she enjoyed navigating, while they admired the beautiful province as they made their way through many picturesque small towns. Among Margaret’s favorite things to do were exploring the quaint shops and appreciating the unique homes, often finding bits and pieces of inspiration to add to her own home of which she was so very proud.

One of Margaret’s proudest accomplishments was building her own home in Shubenacadie. Margaret, Glenn, and her daughters were part of every step of this process; from designing the house to installing the kitchen backsplash tiles. Margaret put so much energy and care into her haven. She had a passion for interior design and enjoyed styling her house to make it a home for her and her daughters. She kept the gardens immaculate; full of flowers and mint, which she used to make tea and salad dressing.

Margaret was creative in many aspects of her life as a piano player, artist, and photographer. She was a lover of fashion, who favoured classic styles. She graduated from NSCAD with a major in photography, but also took the time to learn how to make beautiful pieces of jewelry.

Margaret spoke often and fondly about her childhood in Digby and would tell everyone about how perfect it was. Whenever Margaret spoke of Digby, she would just say home, and everyone knew where that was; the place she felt at peace.

As a young girl Margaret spent much time with her family. She loved to cook and would make cakes and pies for them. She loved taking care of babies and knew she wanted a big family of her own someday. She would often visit her family in the Caribbean.

Margaret always had a sparkle in her eye, a ready smile, and a kind word. She will be greatly and forever missed by those who were near and dear to her.

Margaret’s family would like to thank the caring and highly capable staff at Colchester Regional Hospital, who always ensured Margaret had the best care possible.
