Born in Halifax on February 14, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Horace Peterson and Marion Webb. She was an accomplished pianist, receiving a Royal Conservatory of Music degree from Mount Allison University in 1954. She went on to teach her passion for piano and theory in Fredericton, N.B.; receiving great respect in the classical music community. She later attended St. Thomas University where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1984. Margie additionally expressed her creativity in her needlecraft, sewing, and especially knitting, making many creations for her family and many friends. She will also be fondly remembered for her baking, especially for her tradition of home made chocolate fudge for her pupils’ “playing classes”.
Margie is survived by daughter Barbara King-Halliday (Neil Halliday), grandsons: Dean, Dylan and Tyler; son Richard King (Gail MacLeod), grandson: Christopher (Claudette King); sisters Kay Merrifield, Mississauga, Ont., and Barbara Seheult Fredericton (David Seheult); niece Laura; nephew Peter.
Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. Service will be held at Northwood Manor, 10th Floor, Friday, December 23 at 2:00pm. Rev. Jim Anderson officiating.
