Until her final illness, Laurie remained in the house she loved, built with her husband George over sixty years ago. An excellent homemaker and cook, she liked baking for friends, family and for coffee hours at her church. She worked for many years as a hairdresser in Halifax.
She is survived by her only son, Barrie Charles Taylor; his wife, Carla (MacLellan) and grandchildren, Christopher (Gail McDonell), Carolyn (Charlie Aucoin), and Gregory, and great grandchildren, Ava, Maggie, and Tessa Aucoin, and Charlie, Mac, and Lilli Taylor. Also by sisters, Bertie Guy, Ottawa, and Lillian Hodder, Halifax; half-brother, Frederick Page.
She was predeceased by her husband, George Taylor, sisters, Winnifred Short, Jean Coote, and half-sister, Aretha McNab.
A special thank you to caregiver, Ann Crossman for her untiring, no-nonsense assistance and good humour, and to Pat and Pam Geddes for their long time friendship and years of help with grocery shopping.
There will be a visitation at J.A Snow Funeral Home. 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, Wednesday, July 13, from 5-8 p.m.
A private family service of remembrance will be held at Bethany Church followed by burial at Pleasant Hill cemetery.
