In our sorrow the family of Kevin Kelly (Hip, Roy) sadly announce the sudden passing of their partner, son, father, brother and friend on February 15, 2023. The love and laughter he gave to others during his far too short time in this world has touched so many.
Kevin attended line school at Marconi Campus in Sydney, NS in 1999 and had a career of 23 years with Nova Scotia Power. He had so much love for helping the community through his work. It brought him great comfort knowing he was able to turn the power on in people's time of need. He enjoyed the comradery of his coworkers and was always happy to chat with everyone whether on the job or on the street.
Kevin's passions in life were riding his Harley, travel, music, going to the gym and Sunday dinners with family. He took pride in mowing the lawn and cleaning his truck. He was known for his ability to fill a room with laughter whether you were hearing one of his famously made-up stories or what he called a Kevin"ism". He knew how to locate each of his family members on the sly; it would be no shock to receive a text asking why your car wasn't backed into the parking spot at school.
His father, Weldon, was his closest friend and confidante. He often spoke of times they shared together & their daily conversations on the phone. The love for his dog, George, was second to none. You could often find them cuddled on the couch even though George wasn't "allowed" on the furniture.
Kevin often spoke about retirement and that one day he could be relaxing on a beach somewhere warm.
He was a source of laughter to all and he made a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He is survived by his wife, Jennel Baker; daughter Alli Kelly; son Liam Kelly; father Weldon Kelly; sister Terri-Lee Kelly; stepchildren Conley and Raeann.
Remember me in your heart, your thoughts, your memories of the times we loved, the times we cried, the times we fought, the times we laughed. For if you always think of me, I will never be gone. - Margaret Mead
Visitation Saturday, February 25 from 2:00–4:00 p.m. and 6:00–8:00 p.m. at JA Snow Funeral Home, Halifax. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the IWK Children’s Hospital
