It is with sadness in our hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of a wonderful husband , dad, grandfather and great grandfather , John Herman Bartlett at the age of 94 on November 29, 2020 after suffering a massive stroke, surrounded by his family.
He worked for many years until his retirement at Domtar as a foreman. He loved family, playing cards, and tinkering in his workshop, sometimes taking something apart and rebuilding it even if it wasn’t broke! He was a lifelong member of the Bible Hill Volunteer Fire Department and served a term as Fire Chief.
During his last few years, he was a resident at Northwood Ivany Place in Bedford where he made many friends and was a favourite of the staff. A heartfelt thank you to all for your unending care and compassion. You are all truly angels on earth.
He is survived by his daughter Julie, daughter-in-law Stephanie, grandchildren Caitlin (Manley), Suzanne, Jason, Kelly, Trevor, Steve (Manley) and Paul (Manley), and great grandchildren Ryker, Peyton and Hunter and several nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to his dearest friend, Alfred Lynds, for lending a hand while he still resided in his home and all the visits to the nursing home. Dad loved you like a son!
He was predeceased by his wife of 74 years Helen Louise (McNutt), sons Greg and Larry, parents Aubrey and Mahala Bartlett (Rhyno), brothers Graham, Edgar, Herbie, Elmer, Eric, and Cecil and sisters Mildred, Marie, Nellie, Edna and Emma and his beloved dog Nikki.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held in the spring for both he and Helen together at Bible Hill Cemetery.
