Joan Shepherd

Joan graduated from the VG Hospital School of nursing in 1958. She was a practicing nurse for over 30 years. She loved her aquasize and yoga programs. She loved to travel and has been all over the globe visiting different cultures and historical places. Joan was a great supporter of Symphony NS and Doctors Without Borders.

Joan is survived by her daughters, Mary Shepherd of Ottawa, ON; Sara Fraser (Andrew) of Los Angeles, California; son, Alan C. Shepherd (Nicola) of Bayside, NS; grandchildren, Mary Shepherd - Ben Mahar, Claire, Julia, Morgan Luben; Alan Shepherd – Ashley and Stephen Shepherd; Sara Fraser – Emma Fraser. Brother, Charles MacLean (Rita) of Penticton, BC and their children, Andrew MacLean and Catherine Olton; brother-in-law, Frank Lovely (Harriet – deceased 2002) of Halifax and their children, Kim, Greg, Doug Lovely; sister-in-law, Pam Mears (Paul – deceased 2017) and their children, Pam of London, and Dr. Paul Mears of Halifax, NS.

Predeceased by her husband, Alan C.R. Shepherd of Toronto, ON in 2002; sister, Harriet Lovely in 2002 and brother-in-law, Paul Mears in 2017.

Memorial Service will be held in J.A Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 2:00 pm, the Reverend Kirby Spivey III officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders http://www.msf.ca. She will be missed by all her loving friends in Embassy Towers on Spring Garden Road.
