Jean Malloy passed away in Halifax at the age of 89 on January 21, 2022. She was born in Halifax on May 14, 1932 to Claude and Eva (Brown) Darrach. She grew up in Herring Cove. She attended Queen Elizabeth High School in Halifax where she met her future husband, “Si”. They were married on September 13, 1952. She and “Si” and their family lived on various military bases around the country before moving back to Halifax in 1970, after “Si” left the Army. Jean worked for many years in the Guidance Office at Saint Patricks High School. She enjoyed golfing at Ken-Wo and swimming at the Waegwoltic Club. Jean loved to entertain and enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with her many friends. She was a valued volunteer at the Cathedral Church of All Saints in Halifax.
She was predeceased by her husband Earl “Si” Malloy and her sister Carol (Harley Sanford). She is survived by her children: David (Susan) of Clearwater,FL and Susan (Thomas Coolen) of Hammonds Plains. She was very proud of her four grandchildren: Alexander Malloy (Tonje), Scott Malloy, Lisa Malloy and Christopher Coolen (Kara); and her five great grandchildren: Lachlan, Declan and Luca Malloy and Miley and Dallas Coolen. She is also survived by her sister Ruth (Nicholas Garapick) and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. After cremation a private memorial service for immediate family only will be held at the Cathedral Church of All Saints.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cathedral Church of All Saints in Halifax.
