Janet was an administrator at Fairview Junior High, where she quickly became good friends with the staff and an instrumental team member in the school. She was known for being an action taker and a problem solver, always quick to help out any way she could. She was a dedicated member of the Ringette community, volunteering her time with the Board of Directors and with the Long Term Athlete Development Committee as well as working as president of Ringette Nova Scotia.
Outside of her work and volunteering her time, she enjoyed walks with her dogs, Frenchie’s road trips with her girlfriends, cooking with her family and reading a good book. She grew up in the mountains and loved bringing her family there in the summer to spend time in B.C. where she enjoyed hikes, visiting wine country and spending time on the lake.
She was a dedicated and loving mother and wife, quick to provide support and encouragement for both her daughters and her husband, never letting any of them forget how proud she was of them. With her strength and kindness, she set a constant example for her daughters and was always a source of inspiration in difficult times. Her commitment and love for her family and friends never wavered.
Survived by her daughters Megan and Taylor; mother Trudy Hutley; brothers Dennis (Rhonda) Hrabcak, and Mark Hrabcak; mother-in-law Olive Martin, and many loved nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Predeceased by husband, Donald Martin; and step-father Frank Hutley.
