It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Lewis Hatcher of Halifax, NS at age 87. He passed away peacefully at the QEII Halifax Infirmary on February 9, 2020, surrounded by family and friends. He was the son of Frank Gordon Hatcher and Florence Louise (Ernst) Hatcher. He is survived by and dearly loved by his wife Patricia (Patsy Butler) Hatcher, several special cousins and relatives, Melissa Moar, Edward Moar, close friends and family.
Gordon attended Chebucto Road School, Queen Elizabeth High School and Dalhousie University. He worked and studied accounting for many years, working at H. R. Doane & Co. Chartered Accountants, V. G Hospital Finance Dept. Cancer Foundation, as accountant and other businesses and companies. He enjoyed woodworking, carpentry and painting. He also enjoyed with his wife and friends many trips and travelling holidays. He was a member of the Canadian Wildlife Federation and supported several charitable organizations. He was a member of the St George’s Anglican Church at Head of St. Margaret’s Bay.
The Reverend Brieanna Andrews is officiating at the Funeral service which will be held in J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax on Tuesday February 18th at 3:00 pm with a reception to follow. Interment will occur at a later date in St. George’s Anglican Church Cemetery.
Donations may be made to a charity of choice or Canadian Cancer Society.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff on 8.4 Unit of the Halifax Infirmary for the kindness and excellent care provided to Gordon during his stay in hospital and to the VON at home.
