Frank passed away peacefully on August 30, 2017 at the QE II, Halifax Infirmary, age 86. He was born on March 19th, 1931 in Saint John, New Brunswick. Over the years he resided in Saint John, Toronto, Montreal, Fredericton and Sydney, finally settling in Halifax in 1968.
He was predeceased by his father, Gordon and mother, Frances (nee Sterling) and his grandson, Alexander Marr.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia ( Steeves), children, Allen (Nancy Macdonald), Cindy, Richard (Crystal), and grandchildren, Caitlin Marr, Adam, Braden and Ashley Freeman.
Frank was educated in New Brunswick and Quebec. In his younger years he served in the Canadian Army during the Korean conflict. In subsequent years he was employed at Kraft Foods in Montreal, Traders Group Financial, and Chrysler Canada. He opened Towne Toyota, the first Toyota dealership in Halifax, which he operated successfully for over 20 years.
He was a long standing member of Ashburn Golf Club, Isla Del Sol Golf Club in Florida and a life member of the Maritime Seniors Golf Association. His interests included Track and Field and Hockey, which he coached and played. He sponsored the Towne Toyota hockey team. Golf was his lifelong passion where he truly enjoyed his time with his friends.
Special thanks to Dr Hadley and the caregivers of 8.4 at the QEII for their care and support. Visitation for Frank will be held on Saturday, September 2nd, 2017 from 3-5 p.m. at J.A. Snow Funeral Home 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax. Frank will be laid to rest in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Saint John, NB, at a later date.
