Frances was an original member of the Bayers Road Baptist Church and served the church in a variety of capacities including the Women’s Missionary Society. She had a lifetime membership in the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 45, working in various capacities. She volunteered for the Red Cross and enjoyed bowling with “The Tea Cup Bowling Ladies” at the Halifax Shopping Centre. During WWII she worked for Eastern Air Command and until retirement she worked as an investment coordinator.
Survived by nieces, Sheila Caines (Covey), Truro, Eileen Covey (Ducky) Sambro, Barbara (Jim) Donald, Strathroy, ON, Diane Hann (Eric) Truro; and longtime friend and sister-in-law, Jennie Smith. Predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Stanley and Lloyd.
Visitation will be held at J.A Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., 902-455-0531 on Sunday, February 8, 2015, at 6-8 pm. A memorial service will be held at Bayers Road Baptist Church on Monday, February 9 at 2:00 pm, the Rev. Leslie McCurdy officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Diabetes Society or your charity of choice.
Aunt Frances will be remembered for her special smile and laughter. Many stories and tales of her extensive travels throughout the world were more than fascinating. Thanks to the staff at Parkland and partners for your care of Aunt Frances.
