GHOSN, Fouad Nassim – May 13, 1933 – August 7, 2011. It is with great sadness that the family of Fouad Ghosn announces his passing at the age of 78 after a 7 year battle with kidney disease. He was the son of the late Nassim & Cecilia Ghosn. Born in Diman, Lebanon, Fouad came to Halifax in 1962 to start a better life for his family in Canada. Fouad quickly became one of the pillars of the Lebanese community in Halifax, and was heavily involved in the planning and construction of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Church. He came to Canada with little money in his pocket, but worked hard for many years to put food on the table for his family. His ultimate success was when he began a career in the real estate industry and created a business that today his children have grown. His favorite joy was to get into his car in the morning, and take his daily drive to all of the properties and construction sites. This is what made him happiest, to see his accomplishments in front of him. Fouad would say his absolute greatest success was the family he created around him. He is survived by his wife Georgette (Francis), his children Cecilia (Youssef) Faddoul, Nassim (Rhonda), Soloman (Mary) and Joseph (Roula); brothers Youssef (Mary), Jacob (Sadie), sisters Renee (Mansour), Therese (Steven), and Jamal (Arthur). He will especially be missed by his many grandchildren, Joseph (Christine), John (Ashley), Nina, Renee (Ziyad), Fred, Simone, Jason, Allison, Jordan, Brandon, Cynthia and Samantha, not to mention his great granddaughter Sydney. Fouad will be greatly missed by his entire family and community both in Halifax and abroad. A special thanks goes to all of the nurses and doctors in the Dialysis unit on the 6th floor of the Dixon Centre who have helped take care of him over the last 7 years. Visitations to be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home at 339 Lacewood Drive on Monday 7:00-9:00PM and Tuesday 2:00-4:00PM and 7:00-9:00PM. Funeral service to be held on Wednesday morning at Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Church at 3844 Joseph Howe Drive at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
