Lyons, Florence Ann – 102 years of Halifax passed away peacefully Monday, March 18, 2013 at Northwood Manor. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Marie Delores Melvin and her husband Eugene; seven grandchildren, Ernestine, Allen, Stephen and wife Nancy, Philip, Karen, Paul, Jim and wife Heather; great-grandchildren Justin, Terrell, Amy, Cindy, Patricia; great-great-grandchildren Xavier, Chantell, Elisa, and Miley. Florence worked at Mount Saint Vincent University, the Halifax Infirmary, and at Camp Hill Hospital during WWII. After retiring at the age of 75, she was a volunteer with the Friends of the VON for 15 years and several other charitable organizations. Florence was a member of the CWL at St. Theresa’s Church for 21 years. She had many friends at Northwood Manor and continued to do volunteer work while Florence was a resident, and even at the age of 102, she was always active and alert. The Lyons family wishes to extend sincere thanks to the staff of Northwood Manor for the excellent care she received as a resident. Visitation 6–8 pm on Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street. Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM Friday, March 22, 2012 at St. Theresa’s Church, with burial following at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations may be made to any charity.
