It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Ernest, who left us peacefully on July 25th, 2024.
Ernie, as he was known affectionately by his friends and family, was born in Halifax on February 28th, 1942, to Ernest Sr. and Ruth Wagner.
In his early years he worked for the DND in the dockyard, and then in electrical sales, before retiring to stay at home and raise his family.
Ernie was a talented guitarist, singer, comedian, and showman, with a sharp wit and lots of stories to tell. He spent several successful and enjoyable years with his friends in their band The Collingwood Trio (formerly The Good Tyme).
He loved golf, hockey, and baseball, and had a deep fondness for all animals.
Ernie is survived by his wife of 43 years Sherry (Jackson); three daughters Merewyn (Josh), Erin (Peter), and Johnny; three grandchildren Walter, Margaret, and Frances, who all knew him as Dee Dee; and furry companion, Jellybean, who will miss his many, many treats.
He was predeceased in death by his parents, his brother Laurie, many friends, and beloved pets.
Cremation has already taken place, and a celebration of life will be held at 10:00am on August 7th at JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive in Halifax, with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the SPCA.
