Kellum, Elizabeth Ann (Betty) age 75 of Halifax, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2024 at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital with her loving daughter Ursula by her side. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late Clara Kellum Welch and step-father William “Buster “ Welch. Betty was predeceased by her companion Ervin Shephard; her sister Marie; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Betty is survived by her loving daughter Ursula and grandson Damarius; her niece Claudette (James), nephew Kevin (Dani), cousins Martin, Denise, Gregory, Darryl and many friends and neighbours. Betty was known for being kind. Her passions were animals, sweets and music, especially the song “Sweet Soul Music”, which holds special meaning for the family. Betty loved spending time with her daughter and grandson. In her younger years, she enjoyed going dancing with her friends and cousins. She would spare no expense as on occasion, Betty would pawn a radio on Friday and buy it back on Monday just to be able to go out and enjoy herself. Betty worked in a variety of professions including: in the birthing until at the former Grace Maternity Hospital; as a Nanny and as a PCW with the Red Cross and Revera Ltd. Cremation has taken place, as per Betty’s wishes. There will be a Celebration of Life on May 11th, 2024 at 1pm at Deep Water Church, Halifax, NS (5657 North St). Repass to follow. A private burial will take place at a later date. Betty will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew her. The family would like to thank you for all of your kind words and well wishes.
