O’CONNOR (LeBlanc), Elaine Louise – 91 passed away peacefully at the QEII, on January 18, 2023. Born February 10, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Armand and Kathleen LeBlanc, Sydney NS. A loving sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and a friend to all she met. She was predeceased by Edmund, her husband of 58 years; children Therese (2009), Gerard (2000) Moriarty; siblings Armand, Claude and Roland. Survived by children, Jim, Ellen (Mike) Sims, Paul (Jennifer) and Dave (Stephanie) Halifax; grandchildren Michael, Matthew, Sarah, Laurenn, Selena, Janel, Liam, Jillian, Catherine, Ryan, Josh, Jake, and six great grandchildren; siblings Sister Therese SM, Marguerite MacNeil, Paul, and Celeste Scanlan.
She was born and educated in Sydney, NS, graduating from Holy Angeles Convent, followed by St Martha's School of Nursing as an RN in 1953. Roots were established in Halifax after the birth of her first child and her family continued to grow. She left a trail of unconditional love and lasting friendships including those from the last twelve years at Melville Heights.
Elaine is described as a quiet, gracious, and intelligent, fun-loving woman, always caring and willing to reach out to others. Devoted to her family while remaining at home she managed their Halifax home and their cottage in Ben Eoin, Cape Breton, making all feel welcome with her delicious meals and baking. Throughout the years she also worked closely with her husband supporting many business ventures. Elaine especially enjoyed getting together with her sisters, her friends of many years and was an avid supporter of her children and grandchildren’s activities.
She was a member of St Michael's Parish and Catholic Women's League where she enjoyed many years of volunteering including a term as president. She remained a member of Saint Benedict Parish until her last days.
