Dearest Susan,

I am so saddened to hear about Allan's passing...still can't believe it.
He was a favourite clinical supervisor when I was a PhD student at Dal in the 1990s. Besides his knowledge and skill as a psychologist and mentor/supervisor, it was his kind and gentle approach toward people that made a big impression on me. Allan had a great sense of humour and I remember that twinkle in his eye. Allan did much for clients, students, psychologists and mental health in the province and will be missed by many.
My deepest condolences and peace to you and your family.



I fondly remember Allan from his days at the University of Saskatchewan. He was a stand out as a human and as a student.  Although I have not seen him for years, I feel a sense of loss -- he was one of those rare people with whom you feel a lasting connection even in the absence of an ongoing relationship.

It was with deep sadness that we learned of Allan’s passing. During Allan’s tenure as our co-Field Placement Coordinator, he taught many students and helped shape their professional lives with his kind and gentle wisdom, guidance, and humour. The faculty, staff, and students of the Dalhousie clinical psychology PhD program extend their sincere condolences to Susan and Allan’s family and friends.

Allan was always a bright light, wherever he was. Compassionate, smart, insightful, and quietly competent. He was a pleasure to be with. Our condolences, Susan.

Susan, we are so saddened to hear of Buckey's passing. He was such a great person. Jamie and I were looking at some pictures of he and Bucky a few weeks ago. They had a super friendshio growing up. He will be missed by so many. Our hearts go out to you.

Dear Susan and Family, please accept my heartfelt condolences on the loss of Allan. I had the honour of being a member and Chair of the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology during Allan’s tenure as Registrar. He was a sweet and kind man and an excellent Registrar. It was a pleasure to work with him. He spoke often of his love of travel with you, Susan, and I’m sure those trips have given you many wonderful memories.  I wish you peace and strength at this difficult time. 

It comes a shock to learn of the sad passing of Dr. Wilson.  Although we did not know each other except as colleagues passing by one another with a warm smile in the hallway on the 4th floor of the Professional Building, I felt his gentle and caring guidance as he so masterfully took the helm of our NSBEP.   I will remember how during the Pandemic the enormous care and conscientious Dr. Wilson took in keeping we psychologists procedurally informed and updated during such most challenging times.  My deepest sadness and condolences goes out to his wife, Susan, and to all family and friends.

I had the fortunate luck to have Allen as one of my supervisors when completing my residency. Allan was wise, patient and always willing to assist me. Furthermore, he had a remarkably subtle sense of humour that I appreciated and respected. Over the years, I have periodically reached out to Allen for his advice or input, and he has always made time to help me.  I am truly saddened to know that he is no longer with us.  

I am saddened to learn of Allan's passing. He was one of my internship supervisors. I learned a lot from him! His contribution to training students was significant. He will be missed. 

A Junior Colleague

I am extremely saddened to learn of Allan's passing.  As a young psychologist, relatively new to the province, Allan was always supportive, kind and ever so generous with his time. I thoroughly enjoyed our chats and felt so lucky to have had him as a mentor during my early years in the profession. I shall remember him fondly.

My condolences to Susan and the whole family.    I knew Alan through our mutual activity in the Association of Psychologists of Nova Scotia.    Alan was consistently pleasant, fair and thoughtful.  He genuinely cared about doing what was right.   
 Hopefully you can get some consolation from knowing that he helped many people as a psychologist, and that is a valuable legacy.

 

Allan was my supervisor in the Dartmouth Community Mental Health Clinic for a few years . I remember him as a kind and supportive manager.  My condolences on your loss.

My condolences to Allan’s Family.  Allan was a kind compassionate soul who I had the pleasure and honour to practice with in the Nova Scotia Hospital Community Program.  His calm and attentive approach to people created a relaxed and intentional connection with whom ever he spoke. He always acknowledged the importance of the person.  He will be missed, and the positive affects he left on people and  the contributions he made during his life time to make this world a better place will live on.

Allan was a colleague, boss and friend for 20 plus years. Always a kind and caring colleague who will be missed.Can still see him driving off the NSH grounds in his sports car top down all  his cares seeming to disappear in the wind.RIP Allan

Allan was one of my supervisors at the Nova Scotia Hospital when I was doing my internship.  He was kind, ethical, humorous and a patient teacher.  I am saddened to learn of his passing.


Allan’s Intern

I am shocked and so very saddened by hearing of the passing of Allan.  Allan was one of the most influential people in my life. He was my model of how to be a psychologist. I am forever indebted and he will not be forgotten. 

I knew Allan during his Acadia days where he had a practicum with me at KRRC, we kept in touch periodically thereafter. I knew him as a kind, bright, gentle soul. A lovely man, a dedicated psychologist. May his memory be a blessing. My deepest sympathy. Joelle Caplan

Dear Susan:

You and Allan were dear friends of myself and Michael. I am sorry that after my nervous breakdown we fell out of touch except for Christmas greetings.

Allan was simply my best clinical supervisor in clinical psychology.

You and he were a close, loving couple. You had a special bond.
