It is with great sadness, but gratitude for a life well-lived, that we announce the passing of Douglas Joseph Martin, age 75 on November 30, 2013, in the Halifax Infirmary. Born in East Chester, he was a son of the late Bernard and Mary Martin (Devanney). Doug was a proud member of the Halifax Longshoremen’s Association, Local 269 from 1960-2002.
He is survived by his daughter, Kimberley Martin, son in law Duane McSweeney; son, Jason Martin, daughter in law Lynn Martin (LeDrew); grandchildren, Justin Marriott and Joshua Martin, as well as nieces and nephews
Predeceased by his partner, Susan Henry; sister Lillian Dixon, brother in law Milton Dixon; sisters, Mary Martin and Elaine Stevens; brothers, William Martin, Cyril Martin and Donny Martin.
Cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cruikshank’s Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
