Dorothy “Pat” Fennell, 98 of Halifax passed away peacefully after a brief illness on March 2, 2020 at the QEII Hospital. Born in Halifax on September 28, 1921 she was the daughter of the late Frank and Adele (Carroll) Fennell. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Pat graduated from Sacred Heart School and McLaughlin Business School. She worked at C.I.B.C. on Barrington Street making many lifelong friends and retiring after 34 years of service. Pat was a devout catholic and her faith played an important role throughout her life. She was a member of Saint Mary’s Basilica where she volunteered for many years counting the collections after the morning masses. Pat was a kind, thoughtful, gentle soul who saw the good in everyone and will be missed.
She is survived by her two loving sisters-in-law, Mrs. Vera Fennell and Mrs. Marilyn Fennell, Toronto. Pat will be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews and their families: Paul (Rose) Fennell, Carol Fennell, John (Cathy) Fennell, David (Barbara) Fennell, Irene (Bill Arbuckle) Fennell, Peter Fennell, Dr. Martha (Bruce) Jodrey, and Patricia (Gerald) Ferguson. She was predeceased by brothers, Edward Fennell, Francis Fennell and Fred Fennell; sisters, Louise Donahue, Irene Crookshank and nephew, Edward Jr. We draw comfort knowing that Pat has gone to heaven to be reunited with her parents, brothers and sisters.
Pat called the Berkeley, Green Street home for the past 10 years. The family would like to acknowledge the exceptional care she received. Thank you for your kindness, compassion, love and friendship, she was well looked after.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, March 9th at 11am from Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street with a reception to follow. Private family burial will take place in the summer. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice.
